Cross Movement
Making moves with the message of the cross.
Most would agree that civilizations are composed of and controlled by cultures. Today in most urban and even suburban civilizations, "hip-hop" is that controlling culture. The Cross Movement has been given grace to address the hip-hop culture with the truth of Jesus Christ. After being called out of that same darkness, we have since been led back into it as lights. Truly the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God.
Cross Movement Ministries is an alliance of solo artists and other individuals who have co-labored with others in the ministry for the past several years using hip-hop as a tool to promote the Gospel of Jesus Christ. It's not hard to detect an urban, hip-hop flare in our method and this has been used by God to have a tremendous impact on inner cities.
However, we in no way give credit to the method, but to the potency of the message of the Gospel. We've conducted workshops where we've defended the faith against false views prompted in hip-hop music. We have also started a record label, Cross Movement Records, and just completed our sophomore album, "House of Representatives." Our ministry has been used in churches, schools, correctional facilities, housing developments and malls. We've started small rallies in Philadelphia and have developed relationships with youth around the United States. God is confirming this call in our lives and we are excited!
Objectives:
Networking with Christian churches and organizations to create platforms that stress salvation, emphasize Christian growth, and encourage Christian service
Providing Christian resources (music, literature, art) that are geared to both counter the negative influence of secular hip-hop, and serve as an alternative
Serving churches as manpower for evangelistic efforts
Using hip-hop as a ministry tool to conduct evangelistic rallies and crusades targeting high school and college age people
Providing encouragement, motivation, and inspiration to young people
We would like to be used in the following capacities:
WORKSHOPS: These are opportunities for us to speak on key issues which could vary based on your expressed need.
Q&A SESSIONS/PANEL DISCUSSIONS: This provides an opportunity for one on one or group questions to be answered, which can create a more personal relationship between us. It can also create a platform for views and perspectives to be expressed and addressed between us.
EVANGELISTIC OUTREACH: We believe heavily in street evangelism and we believe there should be an opportunity for our team and yours to go into your neighborhood and share the Gospel together. This is also a way to invite the community to come and participate in the events that are taking place.
EVANGELISTIC CONCERTS: This would be a time to use the method of rap, drama, and creative poetry as a drawing mechanism.
The Cross Movement is seeking to be employed by God. He employs us primarily through ministry minded establishments that see the benefits of and the need for the services that God provides through our ministry. For those who would like to see more ministry minded youth, especially among our urban communities, The Cross Movement strives to be that, and to assist the Church to produce that. We want to keep the message of the cross on the move, therefore this ministry is something to support and something to be apart of. The Cross Movement making moves with the message of the cross!
